The Garrick Singers was set up in 2013 and is a weekly choir for those who are over the age of 60 and/or retired. The project is partnership between The Courtyard Centre for The Arts and The Music Pool in Hereford, which see’s over 100 people every week come together at The Courtyard. This weekly choir was founded by Jon Watson who is also the leader of the Herefordshire Fire Choir.
Participants don’t need any prior knowledge, experience of singing or even the ability to read music; they just need a willingness and enthusiasm to sing. Every Monday it becomes a real social occasion at The Courtyard with many of the group staying and socialising over lunch.
The Choir promotes well being and social inclusion and allows the over 60’s to come together in a relaxed session, try something new and meet new people.
The Garrick Singers regularly perform in various settings across Herefordshire. Performances have included The 2012 Leominster Festival, The Historical Hereford Day in Hereford Town Centre and at the Canal Road Day Care Centre.
